Last day of clinic, Yeah. I saw a really hard class four patient today. Haven't had much luck with finding a board patient. It is nice to know that I just have to come back to do screenings. I'm so glad that we are graduating. I wish that I was completely finished. I guess it has been a good growing experience. I guess I need to learn patience. Anyway glad its the last clinic day. Yeah!

Tuesday April 6 2010

Today I saw 2 quads of a three and a pt with Trigeminal neuraglia. This has been a good experience for me to treat this patient. I also saw 2 quads of a class four. This was good because I was able to complete my class four exams today. Only one more week of clinic. Yeah. Except for I need to find a new board patient to take the exam in St George. It is so hard to find board patients and ones willing to travel. I hope all will work out for me. At least I don't have to study for the board exam or for school anymore.

Last mockboard was on tuesday. I feel like a learned alot with this mockboard. I understand the meaning of having sharp instruments. It definitely helps remove calculus better. I also learned that trying to accommodate patients and clean more quads on a test day doesn't always work out in your favor. Sometimes we have off days and hard patients. Hopefully we all have a good day the day of our board exam. I feel that the instructors want us to succeed and will be helping those in need before the final day. Scary only a couple of weeks before the real board.

Tuesday Feb. 16, 2010

Today my morning patient needed to reschedule due to his Trigeminal neuralgia bothering him. It is funny because one of the instructors said that we might see one patient with this condition during our entire career. I guess I've already seen mine. He is a very dependable patient and came back for his 3-4 month recare when his trigger zone started to flare up. I had to reschedule him back in a couple of weeks hopefully he will do better then. I'm really excited about my afternoon patient, I ended up finding a board patient. Hopefully she will be dependable and work well for me. I've been screening during my clinic sessions for a month and finally it happened. Yeah! One less stress.

Mockboard II

Today was mockboards. Wow what a day! I did really well on all of my paper work. I missed a couple of calculus spots on my patient. Could have done better. My patient was kind of hard. He kept pushing his tongue to cover his anterior teeth and tightening his lips which made it very difficult to work on him. He was even anesthetized. I am glad that he is not going to be my board patient. I hope that the real board experience will go smoother than today.

Tuesday Jan. 26,2010

My morning patient was pretty hard. He has not been to the dentist in awhile and doesn't have good OH. It is amazing sometimes how people can go days without brushing their teeth. My patient had heavy plaque throughout his mouth. I will see him back in a couple of weeks to finish his treatment. I wonder if his OH will change due to having OHI instructions. Still looking for a board patient.

It was amazing the my afternoon patient had not been seen in 15-20 years, but was a class five due to his OH. I thought that it would be something harder. Good for him. Still looking for a board patient.
